1 is 1 and 2 is 2

April 14, 2006

haizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz… i’m soo dead! All or most of my assignments were done at the very last minute! *waaaaaaaaaaaaa…boo hoo hoo….cry cry cry… knocks her head on the wall*

One more assignment: - MIDI composition. Easy piece of cake for me? I don’t think so. Waiting for some inspiration now…

UROPS presentation was very short and sweet. Surprisingly, only 3-4 questions asked. While looking or waiting for some signs of approval. I heard bla bla..”good” …bla bla. Well, approval seekers grab anything they can right? :P ………..or mayyyyybe I looked like i wanted approval……

Btw, no more solar cars for me…they shifted me to the biological field. Meeting the teacher next monday. And friday is my first paper- Human Pharmacology!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music in head now is chinese opera type at the climax when hero is trying to fight off those baddies…cheng cheng cheng cheng..!!!

They say hang on in there..I say fight on!

ohya, 1 is 1 and 2 is 2 means that my 1s are always or many times not purely 1s..likewise for the 2s. If I can only capture everything (my thoughts, actions, words, feelings) and put them into place, how much less stress I would need to go through as of now.

Patiently waiting

After 4-5 years, the orchid at my house in KL finally bloomed! It used to flower every year during chinese new year for about 1 month or so before becoming another green plant and then it just stopped blooming. And i wonder why :P …not much of a green thumbed person but should be due to weather, pruning, watering? heh…

i'm blooming after sooo long

anyway, back to the Teacher Aide (TA) thingy..it’s confirm! and i helped out last thursday :D Helping four secondary 1 boys to built a solar car for the competition in june..and they’re sooooooooooo cute! Still have their innocent looks and not yet showing their other side.hmm…Might be helping out another class after exams too. yay!

These 2 events are really reminders for me that God has his own timing for everything lah. I applied for the TA thingy when i was in year 2 ..now i’m year 3; and the orchid bloomed only after 4-5 years!

Patience my dear…patience! Ecclesiastes 12:6 ” Keep on sowing your seed, for you never know which will grow-perhaps it all will.” Even when you don’t see results, some, if not most things should be persistently pursued!

one of those rare nights

April 4, 2006

It’s going to be 3 am now: an unearthly hour to be awake in when i have a lecture at 8am

It’s one of those rare nights when I can’t sleep! Aurelia can’t sleep?! haha..you must be kidding me :P

Anyway, so many things are happening now and I ask why??! When the ‘good’ things in my life come, the ‘very bad’ things happen as well. And sometimes, I don’t know whether to rejoice or to mourn. And sometimes, I don’t even know whether they are really good or really bad… comprehende?

Just got a call today, for me to become a Teacher Aide for a school in the West. Didn’t expect to get it since I’m suppose to help them for the National Junior Solar Sprint competition…which means building solar cars! dotssssssssssss ….sounds really fun…sounds really cool…sounds physics :P

Ohya, and the teacher who called me asked “Do you know what are gear ratios?”
Me: “erm, no..not really” Oh well, even if i do, it’ll probably be in malay…(I did NOT say the 2nd sentence out loud of course)
Teacher: “so, do you have any physics background?”
Me: ” Only up till secondary level”
Teacher: ” Well, like dat arr…hmm..I’ll let you know if you’re appointed? Ok? Thanks, bye.
Me: ” (whatever mood, coz i was too tired to bother) Ok sure, bye”

So, after recovering from the daze…mentally calculated the cash i would (or might) need for the coming months and yeah, bank account cannot make it :P Here’s the breakdown

-church camp in June ($180..if i sign up by 21 april i tink)
-hostel vacation fees ($400-500…double room shared with gal pals)
-food ($400?)
-trip to the mountains ($ 300?)

Ok…money come from where? Sky? So, I said ” God, You said that you won’t let your children go hungry..even in times of famine…if You are God, be my Provider…”

Yeah, I really hope that this is for real..i’m going to start this thursday..$25 per hour..2 hours per week till after exams, then hours would increase as the competition draws near. And plus an interest free loan from an org in malaysia coming too…

And if anyone is interested, please send your cheques to my account :) thanks

Looking for job after exams too..any lobang? call me :P

Please pray for Paul

April 3, 2006

One of my church members back in KL slipped over a puddle of water while playing basketball and hit his head on a curb. He’s in ICU now and has gone through a few operations to remove the blood clots in his brain; and a tracheostomy as well.

Prayer pointers:
-for pain to subside
-heal infection
-swelling of brain to go down
-restoration of motor and/or brain functions
-the right care and treatment by doctors and nurses

Updates on his condition here…http://ycblogspot.blogspot.com/

kermitty the froggy

Kermit the Frog
You scored 60% Organization, 46% abstract, and 71% extroverted!
This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are mostly organized, both concrete and abstract, and more extroverted.

Here is why are you Kermit the Frog.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren’t totally obsessed with neatness though. Kermit is also reasonably tidy. He’ll even dress up for interviews.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Kermit spends a lot of his time as a reporter collecting facts, but he is also the author of the dreamy song “The Rainbow Connection.” You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren’t afraid to explore your dreams and desires… within limits of course.

You are both extroverts. Kermit gets along with everyone. Sure a few folks annoy him, but that’s just because they are annoying. Kermit likes to meet new people when he does his job as a street reporter. You definitely enjoy the company of others, and you don’t have problems meeting new people… in fact you probably look forward to it. You are willing to take charge when necessary or work as part of a team.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Kermit starred on Sesame Street years before The Muppet Show.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Snuffleupagus
Ernie
Elmo
Cookie Monster
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley
Bert

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

————-

The good:
1. the food the FOOD!
2. ze yummy foood
3. mumm mumm
4. *drool*
5. less stress
6. the beaches

The bad:
1. Living conditions in the hostels
2. Adjusting to and accepting the ways of my own people without being overly critical and unthankful (is this a bad thing?)

Aiyahh..don’t think i’m going anyway..but entertaining that thought for a while makes me wonder…what would it be like if I didn’t come to Singapore?

Firstly, the friends i made here, i would never know if i didn’t come…this leads to another thing: friends in malaysia… if i did not leave KL, i’m sure there would be deeper relationships with the KLites than what i have now!

I would never know or understand

-how it feels like leaving home and being independent
-how much i can miss certain kinds of foods
-how self-contained i really am…which leads to how much i need friends to ‘dig’ it out from me
-how much effort i really need to take to build relationships
-that failure is not an end road
-that you can only truly say ‘I fully depend on God’ after going through many trials
-that when you can say ‘God is good’ while everything around you is in a mess, you have known His heart
-that fear is not absent in the courageous
-how God can turn something bad into something beautiful
-that the things which seem important in this age are not important at all
-how people who rise up to the challenge are either fools or risk-takers
-that in everything you do…there is a consequence
-that God chooses whether to answer your prayers depending on whether it is in His will or not..NOT yours (like duh!…but i learnt that the hard way)
-how much I should seek and ask of Him (am still learning)

A few people still ask me…so where would you go after this? Well, I have seeked Him before when i was in secondary school…somehow i got an answer….but things now don’t seem to be the answer altho’ they might lead to it…(ok, i’m not going to tell now even if you ask me :P)…recently had another revelation and answer to a request…it’s scary and weird but i don’t know how things are going to work out…(maybe one day when it turns out to be what it is..then yah, all would be revealed)…

Haha..it would be good to backtrack to this blog entry down the road and see how things work out in the end..
