Trust, Surrender

August 20, 2007

The word trust has been popping out all over the place for the past 2 days and I think it is by no coincidence. God, are you trying to tell me something?

On Saturday, I read Psalms 2 and Psalms 2:12 says ‘But oh, the joys of those who put their trust in Him.’ Later during Sat service, Ps Jenn shared about worship being surrendering our lives to God and then illustrating how we can only surrender when we fully trust in Him, how we can only hug when we don’t carry all the extra baggages on ourselves. The final ’showdown’ came when during YLT, Ps Glenn had a devotional study assignment on Jeremiah 17:5-8…a passage that H also wrote on my birthday card …which I pasted on my study table because it was so nicely drawn and written :) yeah, and if you guessed correctly, the word trust is there too. ‘But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.’

What does it mean to trust? I guess I haven’t been trusting Him 24/7 and God knows. Went to the online concordance and found out that the Hebrew word for trust in Psalms 2 is chacah which means to put trust in God, to confide or to hope in God, to take refuge in Him. In Jermiah 17, the Hebrew word is batach and it means to trust, have confidence, to be bold and secure in God.

And then I suddenly remembered the bookmark K gave me which says ‘Go with confidence, knowing that God is with you.’

Trust, Surrender.

And the funny thing is that all that I have to give is my five loaves and two fishes.
